Through the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP), landowners who have their property classified as 'Managed Forest' save up to 75% of the municipal tax rate set for residential properties excluding your residence.
Eccles Forestry will complete an educational site visit, stand inventory and plan development according to your objectives as well as meeting all the requirements of the Managed Forest Tax Program. As certified plan approver, we then submit your plan to the Ministry of Natural Resources. Included in your plan is stand analysis, aerial mapping, species at risk and Natural Heritage information. Call us for more information.
Why manage? As plantations grow to be approximately thirty years old, the density grows close to the carrying capacity of the stand. Soil, nutrients, sunlight and water determine how much solid wood per acre can be sustained. When the stand gets to this point of maximum carrying capacity you will start to notice many trees within the plantation stunted or dying.
Continuing to manage your plantation will ensure the highest quality trees for harvest when the time comes. We will monitor your forest for disease and other factors that affect your forest health. We also have an experienced harvesting crew to complete the process!
With the Private Land Silviculture Restoration Program we are bringing forest landowners of similar geographic areas together to develop economies of scale where plantations and hardwood stands have been abandoned and under-utilized. Using the best management practises (BMP's), we can help you invest in your and your community's future.
