Jim has been committed to private woodlot planning, marking and management for over 36 years. Devoted to educating the landowner for over 35 years, Jim was instrumental in introducing landowners, government & business in Southern Ontario to FSC certified standards of management. Jim is an Ontario Professional Associate Forester, an Ontario Certified Tree Marker and Level 2 Auditor, as well as a Ministry of Natural Resources Managed Forest Tax Incentive Plan Approver.
He has been employed with the MNRF as a Wildland Fire Ranger and Forest Technician, with J. H. Keeso & Sons as their timber procurement manager. Jim has managed his own consulting businesses in the past, including Eccles Forestry, which he has now left in the very capable hands of his children and associates to continue and grow.
From a young age, William has been ROOTED & GROUNDED in the woods. "It's what I love to do!" Professional Forester, Wildland Fire Ranger, Trapper, and Tree Hugger, he loved accompanying his Grandfather trapping, sugaring with the family, enjoying recreational activities, and as a youngster joining the business on adventures at work! William has grown up in the woods! After experiencing life as a Fire Ranger throughout Canada and in the USA, William completed his Forest Technician at Sir Sanford Fleming and is currently a member of the OPFA as an Associate Registered Professional Forester.
Michelle is our Senior Forest Technician, Ministry of Natural Resources-certified tree marker, and business professional extraordinaire. Currently, she leads Eccles Forestry's tree-planting team, handles all of the research and organizing that goes into Government funding to help you, the landowner, achieve your forest goals. With a diverse resume including business and retail, Michelle has always been called back to the forest. She is a devoted hiker and traveler, and enjoys spending her off-time in local forests or travelling as far as British Columbia, Portugal and Italy! Looking ahead, Michelle endeavours to find, inspire and carry out more unique forest and property plans in her own community.
Tyler has been working in the forestry industry for 5 years. He started his career in computer technology, but found his true calling in the forest. In his short time, he has quickly and gracefully taken on different projects and positions in the forestry sector. After receiving his diploma in Forestry from Sault Ste. Marie College, Tyler received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry at Lakehead University.
Since then, Tyler has gained experience at the Center for Northern Forest Ecosystem Research as a Forestry technician for stand ecology. He conducted researched using songbird recording devices for deployment and recovery, performed biomass research, laboratory work, and mycorrhizal research.
Whether you are having your woodlot marked for harvest, enrolling in the MFTIP program, hosting a site visit to learn about your forest, interested in planting trees or having your trees sprayed post-plant- you are likely to meet Tyler. He wears many hats at Eccles Forestry, and has become indispensable with his treemarking certification and Pesticide license.
