It's an investment. Thinning removes approximately 30% of the density of your woodlot, usually targeting poor quality and unhealthy trees for removal. The better quality trees are retained and allowed to grow and develop. The first thinning usually removes every fourth row plus poor quality trees in the remaining three rows.
Subsequent thinnings occur approximately every ten-years, retaining the best quality trees, maximizing stand economics and quality with each thinning.
More on the benefits of management:
Unfortunately at this point in time, White Ash trees are no longer profitable due to the Emerald Ash Borer infestation. Traditionally, Ash is used for veneer, baseball bats and furniture.
Even if your Ash trees are still standing, leafing out or appear otherwise healthy on the outside, it can be a completely different story underneath the bark.
If you think you have some equitable Ash trees and would like to consider a harvest, give us a call (519)369-5480.

Short answer: Yes!
Long answer: Depends how many trees you'd like.
Forests Canada has a few requirements regarding planting area and number of trees, but there is funding to help cover the costs of treeplanting and follow-up assessments, pesticide applications and more!
To find out more about funding options and what programs are out there, read about Forests Canada below.
Every woodlot is different- depending on past management, tree species, geographical location, proximity to water, areas of natural significance etc.
There is no blanket statement on what a woodlot is worth until we have our own eyes on it. We can talk about current market prices and potential projections, but the best way to find out what your woodlot is worth is to book a free site visit so we can conduct a forest inventory and give you a quote on what your woodlot is worth.
Our Foresters are members in high standing with the Ontario Professional Forester's Association, as well as members of the Canadian Institute of Forestry. They also hold Treemarking certifications.
Additionally, we have some dynamic team members who handle the administrative side of things, prepare reports, and accompany the Foresters on site visits, treeplanting projects, marking woodlots etc.
